Super cool, KGM showcasing a matching GB tie and mask
Lovely Laura Whitmore flooring her fans with this lovely coordinating mask and top look. Read more on this in this feature in ‘Hello Magazine‘
And here’s Laura’s other half, our favourite Scottish comedian Iain Stirling. This time a matching GB Mask, with a Bespoke Print GB Tracksuit!
British Grime Legend D-Double E. We were delighted to collaborate on a Face Mask Collection for D-Double’s merchandise. We are doing some exciting collaborations with D-Double and his record label Bluku Music. Watch this space…
In our product description, Gresham explains: “I have based these masks on ones that I wore during a motor bike trip we went on during a visit to Vietnam in 2019. I found them comfortable, and the extra under chin panel, adjustable side adjusters and with the added wire over the nose that once pinched gives a tailored fit.”
From the Scottish Highlands to the streets, tartan has reinvented itself as a contemporary, cool and versatile pattern which takes its heritage in its stride.
Tartan is defined by a combination of factors. The use of bold colours in a twill weave are woven symmetrically at right angles so as to create ‘stepped’ diagonal lines. Traditionally colours originated from natural dyes such as berries, plants, mosses and bark. Ancient tartans come in colours that could be created from natural dyes, whereas modern designs come in more variations due to chemical dying, and muted sits somewhere in between.
While tartan’s endurance may in some part be down to the myths that surround it, its appropriation by punk and grunge culture propelled it from an eccentric British textile to a fashion-forward design feature, and today to a sartorially savvy choice of cloth. The variations are virtually infinite, making pattern a viable option; if florals feel too feminine, stripes too boring, spots too kitsch, tartan is neither masculine nor feminine, neither youthful or mature.
As far as we are concerned at Gresham Blake, tartans should be worn by everyone.
Some of our favourite Tartan’s
‘Black Watch Tartan‘ contemporary colour combination makes it an effortless addition to a modern wardrobe. “It’s so wearable,” Gresham says.
‘Brighton Tartan’ designed by Gresham Blake. We are proud creators of our very own ‘Brighton and Hove Tartan’ – exclusive to us. A mixture of blues (the sea), greens (the South Downs), gold and pink (the city’s flamboyance).
As with all official tartans the cloth needed to be certified by a member of the local authority office before it could meet the conditions for the Scottish Register of Tartans Act. Thanks to Mayor Peter West for approving the cloth for us!
‘Royal Stewart Tartan’ Originally designed for Queen Victoria, and adopted by Queen of Punk Vivienne Westwood. It is possibly the most famous universal tartan of them all.
‘Macleod Dress Tartan’ or ‘Loud Macleod’ to its fans. A Modern vibrant yellow-based tartan with black and red checks.
‘Lindsay Tartan’ Immediately recognisable from its deep green and maroon colours this one is a perfect choice for Autumn.
We have over 100 tartans to pick from!

A black dress coat would typically have a 4 button working cuff, and be worn as occasion wear. The covert coat surfaced in the late 19th century and has become a versatile staple piece. By 1890, it had become adopted by the masses and basically every elegant gentleman had a Covert Coat in his closet.
The two standout features of the Covert Coat are the four rows of stitching and the poachers’ pocket.

There is always something going on at Gresham Blake, believe it or not we dabble with things you wouldn’t even imagine us to! Like for instance, designing our own Brighton & Hove Tartan. Our (more or less) resident photographer Kenny McKraken, from Scotland himself, was one day musing about how he thinks Brighton & Hove should have their own tartan. So, we ran with it, creating our very own officially certified tartan and you all loved it and for good reason! Vivid blues and bright pinks make up a check unlike any other tartan we have seen. A brilliantly vibrant colour palette, even if we say so ourselves…
Our in-house design team have been recreating our, now signature, tartan for a few seasons from shirting to our classic chinos and even the lining in our navy mac.
We have reimagined it in so many ways we wanted really turn it on it’s head and what better way than the introduction of a Venetian Stripe. Arguably as classic as a tartan being steeped in history, albeit a slightly more mediterranean one. Saying that, it is largely unknown where the Venetian Stripe got its name from. Some believe that it has origins in the Italian city of Venice, however there isn’t much research to back that theory up. So others think that the flat weave technique took inspiration from the classic dye houses of Venice. The flamboyant colours that they are renowned for in consequence from the dimly lit rooms of the 18th and 19th centuries where the colours needed to be as vivid as possible to create a lasting impression.
Stripes have always been and probably forever will be a classic theme in menswear and whether you are into boating or not, it is undeniable that this jacket looks great on anyone.
With stripes, confidence is key, make it the focal point your outfit by accompanying it with a classic cream or navy chino to maintain a sophisticated edge. However, it will look just as good with our colourful chinos to completely steal the show, whether it be the races, the tennis or just a picnic in the park. And do you want to know a secret? Forget “go faster stripes”, make way for the all new “look taller stripes”!
The bright blues, yellows and pinks of our our stripe bring life to the classic flat woven cloth with the thick navy stripe keeping it wearable and can be proudly sported from Royal Pavilion to Regatta. This boating stripe jacket will soon be your new favourite summer look and has already been dubbed ‘jacket of the season’ by the design team!
The summer cloth is weighty enough yet breathable. Made from a blend of wool for an elegant drape and cotton for a cool summer look which further demonstrates its durable nature. The blazer is complete with splashes of fuchsia pink found in the melton and the lining make this jacket pop! The Brighton & Hove Stripe Blazer is a standout seasonal jacket. The vibrant cloth is woven fully in the United Kingdom and will be sure to see you through the hotter months year after year.
Our new SS22 collection is, as always, very limited edition so make sure you don’t miss out on this warm weather winner. I think you’ve earned your stripes…
Now, traditionally, Bespoke Tailoring is very male-dominated and posh.
I have a few traits that did not quite fit into that mould.
Firstly, I am female.
Secondly, I am not white.
Thirdly, I am very vertically challenged!
I am not what you would typically expect as ‘YOUR BESPOKE CONSULTANT’ if you were buying a suit in Savile Row. And, over the years, I have surprised a number of my client at that first consultation when I have said that I will be looking after them today.
However, what I have found, is what people want is – simply people that are very dedicated to what they do and have skills and knowledge to back that up.
From the first bespoke suit that Gresham made from me, I was completely hooked on tailoring.
My vision was to be able to provide this to everybody, in particular women.
At Gresham Blake, we now specialise in women’s bespoke tailoring. We have created patterns and designs which produce empowering garments, whatever direction you want to take. Designing a women’s bespoke suit is the ultimate gender-neutral experience, where you can find yourself and express who you are through a beautifully tailored, stylish garment.
Bespoke tailoring has not been on most women’s radars, in part, because it has been so closely associated with menswear, but also because it’s been sold with the image of ‘gentlemen’s clubs’ and ‘country estates.’
For me, it’s completely the opposite. I want to break those stuffy stereotypes and simply make well made, contemporary clothing for the individual.
More and more women are getting frustrated with the process of finding things that fit them well. I am proud of the ladies tailoring services we provide.
And did you know that 80% of the Gresham Blake team are Female?
“Ohh, it’s a women’s tailor”, I still get that a lot.
It’s a yes from us! Don’t let your Veganuary stop at just the foods you eat, be climate conscious through your sartorial choices too. Gone are the days when sustainable fashion meant hemp sacks and itchy fabrics. We are now enjoying a new era of sustainable fashion and at Gresham Blake we are so proud to be a part of it. Introducing our 45 Collection.
The name pays homage to its ethical beginnings, through the suiting cloth which utilises innovative fabric technologies that incorporate 45 recycled plastic bottles in every single suit. These bottles are now able to have a new lease of life and with your help they will never be a single use plastic ever again!
This collection is luxury, without the price tag. Retailing at £295 per suit, keeping your wallet and the environment happy in one fell swoop! If that wasn’t enough to tempt you, these suits are also fully machine washable at 40 degrees. So, none of that faff of going to get your suit cleaned, with the added benefit of no harsh chemicals, often used in dry cleaning, going into the environment.
Not only is the 45 Collection suiting kinder to the planet, they also look and feel great, with a luxurious soft handle. Comfort and functionality are at the forefront of this collection creating a hard wearing piece that you will treasure for years to come. These suits are definitely a new wardrobe classic. The perfect suit from work to weddings.
As a design company, we understand that we all have a part to play in protecting the environment and the people in it. I think we speak for everyone that after this lockdown period it has become apparent, now more than ever, that we need to do everything to look after our planet. Better working conditions, sustainable materials, and processes that leave little impact on the Earth are issues that we care about.
This menswear collection comes in two classic colours, Navy Pindot and a Grey Pindot pictured below. Get suited and booted for your next big occasion, the 45 Collection will help you just do that.
Here’s a little bit about the process of creating a 45 Collection suit:
At Gresham Blake, we are committed to trading relationships that are both commercially viable and ethical. We support fair trade and only operate with manufacturers who comply with our ethical trading policy.
Our 45 Collection embodies all that is right in the development of fashion technology and innovation. The polyester used in our 45 Collection is made from 45 plastic bottles. All our garments are then crafted in our workshops using renewable energy. Owning one of these, not only are you helping in our shared goal for a greener planet but also, you will be saving 45 plastic bottles from hitting the landfill. So, go ahead and help us save the world, 45 plastic bottles at a time!
Please mind, this collection is very popular. We are pleased to say that after a long two years of lockdown we have managed to get some more in stock. Order yours today to avoid missing out!
